Online Training Vs. Hands-on-training For Botox Injections

By Alina Karemin

Botox injections are the more common name for botulinum toxin injections, which are a very popular cosmetic procedure these days. From treating fine lines to relaxing muscles and even treating complex medical conditions, Botox injections have become part and parcel of advanced medical treatment. To be licensed to deliver Botox injections, medical professionals have to complete the in-depth training required. However, in our ever growing internet world, online training has now become a common path that many take to obtain certification.

Is online Botox injection training enough? The other option is to learn in-person. These methods of learning are actually accentuated by each other. We will examine this in more detail.

Getting online training

The knowledge can be absorbed by the learner online at their own pace and in their own home, which many people find more appealing. Online training is not only limited to courses or short videos but can also include live seminars and webinars. Training programs can also send out DVDs that people can watch and their own leisure.

It does make learning on the internet sound pretty great, but Botox can't be injected on a computer, a real life scenario is necessary. It is pretty much impossible to learn a procedure just by watching it without actually practicing it. For example, one cannot become a dentist by watching videos on how to perform different dental procedures. For the skills required to perform these complex procedures independently on patients, one must actually have an experienced physician supervise the procedure while the person is learning.

In-person training

Hands-on training is where it the trainee has an opportunity to perform this procedure on either a volunteer or a training dummy. This is supervised usually by a doctor and the trainee will re-do the process over and over, until the doctor is certain that it can be done independently with a high degree of safety for the patient. The trainee will get a great benefit from this kind of training since the professional is on-hand, and mistakes can be corrected; this won't happen by training on the internet because criticism is not possible.

The challenge for hands-on training is organizing the required professionals to be present for the process. Busy professionals need to take time out of the regular schedules to attend these training programs to teach the trainees. It is a time-consuming process, and there is also the venue for the training to take place to be considered. But if one would consider the bigger picture i.e. safety and the results of the procedure for patients, online training just does not measure up to what is learned hands-on.

Combining hands-on with online training

Learning to administer Botox injections is best done by using both of these methods. Online training programs can help allow trainees to read theory and watch certain training videos prior to attending the hands-on training program. This way, when the trainee gets to the hands-on training, they will understand the basics and not be confused during any part of the training processes. Today, these methods combined are the most effective to train. Animations are now created that show the procedures in vivid detail, this will ensure that a trainee has the necessary information at hand for when they go to the Botox injection hands-on training in the future.

Summary

Botox injection training is best accomplished using both online and hands-on training. Both methods have their unique advantages, and when they are used in conjunction with each other, the most is gained by trainees learning Botox treatment methods.
