One of the most fulfilling and most challenging journeys you'll ever go on is seeing what your body can do. Maybe you are in shape, totally out of shape, or simply hoping to lose some weight. However, developing a body that you really can be proud, one that's healthy, and lets you truly love each last inch of it actually is a dazzling journey to travel down.

So what's the secret behind making a lasting change with your body?

Consistency and commitment.

There's nothing else like coming to the table each day and giving it your best shot. Your best effort must be yours and yours alone. Don't start comparing your journey to other journeys or else you will become unmotivated and deterred. Instead, really try and understand that you are competing with yourself and yourself alone. Will there be times on your journey where you try and fail? Yes, many times. But every time you do, you should come back with a firm dedication to achieving something you've always really wanted. Consistency will keep you in the game and on the field each and every day. Without it, you may suffer the the inescapable and bad reality of many new years resolutioners who give up each and every single year on developing the body of their dreams because they are missing the personal power to keep on coming back again and againand again.

Commitment also is evoked, although not the commitment that you are likely thinking about. In our world, we are fed this concept that everything must happen at the moment and if it does not actually happen right now, it's not worthwhile. Your body is going to drastically change throughoutthe years, so why don't you try and make a real lifelong commitment to keeping healthy? Is that a sexy marketable idea? Not really. But is it something that could really change the course of your life? Definitely.

When you make a promise to keeping your body healthy throughout your whole life, you may eventually reach whatever goal you wish. It is all about seeing the bigger picture than just the few months in front of you till summer. It's honestly about developing something that you truly can be proud of for all the years to come. For me, that idea changed my life as I was able to finally hit my health targets after 12 years of wrestling with my self-image and food issues. But as soon as I shifted my view of what I was making an attempt to accomplish, everything I had wished for came to me. So try it on for size and see if it works for you. Make a lifetime commitment to keeping healthy and watch how much your body will change in the short term too.

Bring some commitment and consistency to the table, in all sides of your life, and things will change drastically.
